I' ve had the Orange Monster for just over a month, and I have no complaints. This is a large watch, so you might want to reconsider if you have a small wrist. Yes, it is a manly watch. The quality is excellent, and can be used for diving or casual dress. Something that many might not know is that the band has an built in extender for easy transition between normal wear and wearing over a wetsuit. I highly recommend this bold watch. |

I received this watch as a 16th birthday present awhile back. I came to Bodying for the Seiko MONSTER rubber dive strap and thought I' d write a review.
The watch is great, thick, large, but not obnoxious. Heavy, but not too heavy. It keeps good time, gains a few minutes a month. I shake the watch a couple times a week, have never had it stop. I like the day and date, both easy to read. The time is easily visible day or night.
The bracelet is a tough solid-link chain. Each link is slightly curved to conform to your wrist. It is the most comforable watch bracelet I have ever worn, (one that wasn' t rubber), and it doesn' t slip around on your wrist. It also has a dive expansion, great for the real divers out there. The only reason I am replacing the stainless bracelet is because I prefer the weight and feel of rubber straps.
The watch itself is also incredibly durable. It has survived quite a few ski falls on the icy slopes found in the midwest. Can really take what you throw at it. I wear it all day, all night, at the gym, shoveling snow, doing yard work, no problem. |

I share my bad experience with Seiko Monster and some say Im stirring up trouble. Hey, we' re in a democracy when I last checked. Duh. Yeah maybe I am spreading the word about my faulty Seiko Monster but that' s the TRUTH and I want others to know that my Seiko Monster was defective. At least Im not a dumb fanatic Seiko Monster cultist who idolizes this watch with a candle-lit shrine, chants, and ritual. For crying out loud, it' s just a watch, an inanimate spiritless object, that does not have feelings or civil rights! But it did hurt that I wasted $150 for this bad watch. I dont care about giving the watch a chance, regulating, breaking it in, etc. What happened to my Seiko Monster is that it stopped, which is not good, so I returned for an exchange.

My orange monster came in a random Seiko watch box (not original).
The instruction manual was xerox copied and stapled together.
The unidirectional bezel was very loose so i ended up returning the watch for a full refund.
you get what you pay for. |

It had been a few months since I purchased this watch and posted a review. It didn' t take long before I got frustrated by it running fast by 25 seconds A DAY so I sent it back to Seiko. They fixed it pretty quick and it now runs like a champ. The accuracy improved dramatically. It is within a second per week when compared to the NIST website.
Is it acceptable to have to send your new watch to be tuned up? Of course not. Despite that aggravation I am totally pleased with it now.
Because it is now an actual "timepiece" I revise my earlier rating to 5 stars. (which the site will not let you change) |

This watch was recommended to me by a friend who' s a bit of a watch junkie.
I' ve had the watch on my watch-list - as it were - for a long time, and caught a father' s day sale that made it a really good buy. I bought, it arrived this evening, and I' ve been wearing it for about seven hours.
I LOVE IT!!!!
It' s nowhere as big as my Invicta watches. More like the size of the Casio G-Shock I own. Still, the face is all that was promised, and it' s a simple watch to manage.
This is day one, and so far all is well.
I will post comments as time goes on. For now, this is a great watch. |
